We are Ruel James and Mari, the creatives behind MARU, a husband and wife team with different strengths and excellent skill sets that are perfect when combined.
We are hybrid photographers who love to capture our clients' genuine moments through analog film and digital photography. We serve Tokyo, other prefectures in Japan, and destinations.
We love weddings! We love our marriage!
Well, for us, marriage is more than a lifetime journey. It's a beautiful gift from God! So there would be a lot of unforgettable memories we have to share. And along the way, it's normal to undergo testing to grow and thrive. So we encourage you through our craft to remember that your husband or wife must be the person you love to be with the most, whether in not-so-good times or celebrations.

We started as niftycreative
We remember the early days of our company like it was yesterday. We started niftycreative, a photo and video service that specialized in capturing weddings and engagements. Our goal was simple: to capture life's precious moments in a unique and cinematic way.
We were in

But something unexpected happened along the way. We fell in love with analog film photography. The process of developing film and the dreamy, nostalgic quality it gave our images captured our hearts. It wasn't long before we realized that we wanted to focus more on this medium and explore its creative possibilities.
And so, we transitioned and rebranded our company. We became MARU, a business focused on both analog film and digital photography. We specialized in fine art, bright and airy wedding photography, and our clients loved it.

Today, MARU is a thriving business that continues to push the boundaries of what is possible with photography. Our passion for analog film remains at the heart of everything we do, and we are constantly exploring new ways to capture life's most precious moments in a way that is both artistic and timeless. We're proud of what we've accomplished, and we're excited to see where our love for analog film takes us in the future.
Ruel and Mari are heavensent to me and Ery. We are so happy we stumbled to their page when we were looking for wedding suppliers. Yes, they are recommended by a lot of couples. Their rates are more than what we paid for! From planning, Ruel and Mari are very accommodating and helpful in crafting ideas and concept - this is superb as most p&v team will not accommodate extra requests.

What can I say...Ruel has been excellent! Really nice person, friendly and especially professional!!! It was my first time doing this and I had such a great time and enjoyed all the time during the photo shoot.I felt 100% comfortable throughout the entire shoot and Ruel went above and beyond the expectations on the day.
